Ah, the million dollar question.
Lately I’ve been reflecting on what my personal style is. To be honest, I can’t really describe it definitively because it is constantly changing. I don’t like to restrict myself with labels because that would be like putting a cap on your stylistic abilities. Does anyone else feel this way? What if I claimed to be “sporty chic” and one day I decided I wanted to wear some florals and off-the-shoulder gypsy-like clothing? So maybe it’s a good thing that I can’t define my personal style in just a handful of adjectives; instead, I’m free to wear whatever I want and be whoever I want at any given time. (:
I’m always thinking of ways to improve, and I think that personal reflection is a huge part of that. What am I currently good at? How can I use strengthen those traits? How can I improve areas that I’m not so good at? This can be applied to my style as well, in which case I ask myself: What looks best on me? How can these items perform functionally in my lifestyle? Being able to answer these questions can help you set a tone for your wardrobe. Instead of following the trends and what looks good on others, try things out and determine whether or not they look good on you and whether those styles accurately reflect your lifestyle.
Personally, I own a lot of work-out clothes and comfy knits. I’m all for the “form and function” idea, so most of the clothes I buy are comfortable and also fashionable (that depends on what you pair each of your items with). For example, I love to buy dress with pockets when those come about (who doesn’t), and look for materials that are forgiving and good quality so they last.
So, if you can’t tell, I’m super comfy in this outfit. Sometimes I like to be edgy, so a netted top (from Forever21) is a nice touch to an otherwise basic outfit (basic is subjective here). I’m also a huge fan of caps–or any headwear, really–and this one is so cool because it’s a play on “Netflix and Chill“.
